Turning to Gratitude

On a day like Thanksgiving, I find it pretty easy to be thankful for all of the wonderful blessings in my life. Being surrounded by family and friends, sitting at a table full of delicious food and hearing what everyone is thankful for makes me truly happy and reminds me that I have been blessed with a great life. Plus, I have been reminded for the past two week by commercials, signs and social media content that this is the time of year to show gratitude. But, it’s the other days of the year, the normal days, the mundane days, the routine days, the bad days, that require way more effort to be grateful.

To say that 2016 was a rough year for me personally would be an understatement. Certain situations and circumstances made me really reflect and even drastically change a lot of things about my life. Most days, it was really hard to think of something that I was grateful for. However, even on the worst day, there was always multiple aspects of my life that I was truly blessed to have. I found that turning to gratitude made the hard things not so bad.

It really is incredible what just listing three things I am grateful for on a daily basis does to my day. By finding the good in the bad, it makes me see more of the good. So today, here is the good. I am so incredibly grateful for my family, my friends, my cat, opportunities, my wonderful past and present brides, good food and all of the beauties of nature.

What are you thankful for today?

Happy Thanksgiving lovelies!

My Trip to The Outer Banks

Back in September, I put my shop on vacation mode and took off to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. My aunt and uncle rent a house there every year but my schedule does not always permit me to go. This year, I forced myself to schedule in time for a little getaway to just relax and unwind after such a busy and stressful year. I was there for three and a half short days, but in those days, I squeezed in as much “me” time as possible.

This was the boardwalk to the beach and I just love the simplicity of it.

And THIS is the beach . The sand is white and the water is blue. I felt like I was in the Caribbean somewhere when I was standing on the beach. Even though it was only a three hour plane ride, I really felt like I had traveled to another country.

The weather was absolutely perfect the first day I was there. Unfortunately, the second day, it was a bit overcast so we walked a short distance to the Corolla Lighthouse. Fun fact about me is that I absolutely love lighthouses. My bucket lists includes visiting every lighthouse in the United States.

There were over 200 steps to the reach the top of the lighthouse and once I got towards the top, I really felt those 200 steps.

But, LOOK AT THAT VIEW! It was a little overcast so I couldn’t see that far out but it was still breathtaking and totally worth the 200 steps.

Another part of my trip that I really enjoyed was waking up every morning before the sunrise to walk down to the beach and go for a run. There’s something about running and feeling the ocean breeze and seeing the waves crashing that just makes me giddy. Oh, and the sunrise…

There is simply nothing as awe-inspiring as a beach sunrise.

When I got back from my trip, I felt inspired and motivated. Sometimes all it takes is a different environment, natural beauty and a little bit of “me” time to get your mojo back.

Welcome to the Love and Paperie Blog

Phew, I can’t believe that I am finally done with the new Love and Paperie web site! I started building this baby about a month ago and because I am a huge perfectionist and may have a slight case of OCD, I have spent an endless amount of hours tweaking and re-tweaking everything so it would look just right. That being said, I could not have dreamed of a better web site and I am so proud to launch it!

For those of you that are familiar with the Love and Paperie brand, you will know that this isn’t my first rodeo with building web sites. I originally started out with Squarespace but after careful consideration, I decided it was time to move over to WordPress (look out for another blog post about more reasons behind my switch). I have to say at first I was a little intimidated by WordPress because of the endless amounts of widgets and plugins and I felt like my head was spinning while researching how to add certain elements, but after seeing the finished product, I know I made the right choice. I hope you will enjoy the new and improved web site!

With the building and release of my new web site, I have made some commitments. One of those commitments is to blog. I want to share more about my wonderful brides (and grooms), more about my business and more about me, the girl behind Love and Paperie. I hope that my posts will give more of an insight into who I am and also to help fellow entrepreneurs on their business journey. And of course, I’ll throw in some pretty stationery too!

Cheers to new [web site] beginnings!
